These lovely napkins date from around 1890. They measure 29” by 28” high (73.5cm by 71cm) and the monogram measures 1.5” by 2.5” high (4cm by 6.5cm). The set are white damask and have a double damask weave of such simplicity. Scrolls of leaves, dots and urns are found bordering the entire napkin. The monogram is encircled by a garland of scrolls and the monogram itself is SO fine, the finest white thread has been used and the finest needle – it is so intricate that it defies description and I urge you to take a look at the photos. The photos are darkened to show the weave and the intricacy of the stitching. A very fine napkin to grace the finest table!
