This is one of my favourites! This snowy white linen sham has the most gorgeous scalloped border you have ever seen. Each scallop has a six petalled flower on it and the entire edge is embroidered in a pearly white thread. The tip of each scalloped has a lovely shape (see the photo's). It is probably French and from around the 1880's. There are five small mother of pearl button to fasten it closed on the back. The sham measures 26" square (66cm square) and the MT monogram measures 6" x 2.5" (15cm x 6cm). Pillow area is 21" square (53cm square). Both the M and the T have the same five petalled flower embroidered within the initial. This was sourced from a small market town in Provence and a treasure indeed!
