A circlet of dots surrounds the monogram, which reads JG. The monogram also has sprigs of leaves and twines of foliage within it. It is French and dates around 1900. The sheet is a light dove grey/white and is soft and of medium weight. The sheet measures 81” wide and 116” long (206cm x 295cm) and the monogram is 5.5” wide x 9” (14cm x 23cm) tall. The sheet has three lines of thread work, which run along the entire width of the sheet, and run up the side of the sheet for 17”. This work is entirely hand drawn and requires a very experienced hand to achieve well. This is a marvellous example of such. The embroidery is all executed with a brilliant pearl white thread and has a lovely high relief! A superb sheet!
